Algorithms for the Heart (2015 - 2016)
A substantial portion of my artwork has always been rooted in landscape – from local homescapes to more distant locations – that resonate with personal meaning. I also employ methods of formal abstraction to investigate the language of color—its sensory and associative impacts, independent of representational forms.
In this series, Algorithms for the Heart, both approaches, landscape and abstraction, are in play. The paintings are scaled to micro and macro environments using watercolor, pastels, and oil paint on sanded paper.
